Indoor Softball.

The Game

Indoor softball is a new initiative at Caboolture Indoor Sports. Played on two regular courts with thecentre net lifted, it is the little brother of the regular outdoor game. Nine players make up the team and each game goes for 60 minutes with no limit to the number of innings. Typically, we would have time for 7-8 innings.

The basic rules are the same with a few changes to increase the flow of the game. Some of these changes include:

  • No windmill or fast pitching
  • Catches off the nets are out
  • A home run zone
  • Shorter distances between bases
  • A softer ball

Like all of our indoor sports, this is an ideal opportunity to use all the skills of outdoor softball in an environment where the sun and the weather don’t matter.

WHAT IS PICKLEBALL?? A question we get asked quite frequently.

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a Wiffle Ball, over a net.

How To Play Pickleball          5 Ways To Improve Your Pickleball Game        Pickleball Serve-Legal and Effective

The main differences between tennis and pickleball are that in pickleball, you serve underhand, the ball has less bounce, there's no doubles alley (singles and doubles are played on the same-size court).

Basic Rules of Pickleball. The serve must be hit underhand and each team must play the first shot off the bounce After the ball has bounced once on each side, both teams can either volley the ball in the air or play it off the bounce. To volley a ball means to hit it in the air without letting the ball bounce.

Scoring. A pickleball game is normally played to 11 and must be won by 2.

The Serve. The serve must be hit with an underhand swinging motion and the ball contacted below the hips. ...

Double Bounce Rule. When the ball is served the player on the receiving side must let the ball bounce once before hittng it. ...

No Volley Zone. There is a 7-foot no-volley zone, popularly called "the kitchen," extending from the net.

Pickleball was introduced into the Caboolture Indoor Sports Centre as a social sport to enable participants to trial the game and enable it's membership base to grow.

Presently Pickleball is held on Sunday afternoons 2:00pm - 4:00pm - we hope to develop this as a daytime social program
